SHOW REVIEWS

'Hi there, As for the show last Saturday, we all thought the band was EXCELLENT, and as we'd seen U2 themselves the previous Wednesday in Nice, France, I feel we're in a position to say. It was one of the best nights out we've had in ages. Thanks again for a great night, and we'll definitely be seeing you again.' Mandy x

'Hi. I attended the Ashfield Show with my wife, daughter and a few friends on Sat 8th August and was amazed how good ZU2 are. If so that would be great give me something new to listen too in the car. Good luck boys and thanks for a great last weekend. Cheers,' Mark

'Saw the band for the first time at Ashfield Show on 8th August 2009. I was blown away! A tribute band can't be a tribute band without the original band being there first. All I say is that Bono and the rest are very lucky NOT TO BE A TRIBUTE BAND to these guys. Rock on!' Rob Caunt

'Dear ZU2, Last night Saturday 220809 together with my partner we saw U2 in Cardiff at the Millenium Stadium and was absolutely blown away, what a night. Why I am contacting you is to say a big thank you. I was never previously a great U2 fan but my partner is and she tried to convince me how good they are. Having seen you in concert at Barnstaple earlier this year I was so impressed by your performance that persuaded me to see the real band in concert which I will never forget. I cannot thank you enough because I saw the tribute band first which are so good that they convinced me that my partner has always been right. I will look forward very much to seeing you again at sometime when you are in our area [ West Somerset ] in particular to see what you have done with their new material. Thank you again and very best wishes.' Steve Guscott

'Hi Guys, We were at your concert on Sat 5th Sept and its the second time we've seen you in Jersey and WOW! Absolutely fantastic again.

"ZU2 was an absolute pleasure to see live in our venue and certainly put on a show for the crowd that were there. I have never had the opportunity of seeing U2 live but I cannot imagine how they could be any better than ZU2! The guys in the band were extremely talented musicians and also had great personalities and this shone throughout their performance. The encore that was played was 'Vertigo' and a fantastic way to end a brilliant night at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre. There are many tribute acts around the world but for me this must be one of the best around." David Watt, Centre Manager, Fraserburgh, Scotland.

"What an amazing show at The Leisure Centre on Saturday in Fraserburgh. I regret not buying a CD so I could publicise the band to all my friends and family. I am a U2 fan anyway but now I am a ZU2 fan too!" Ashleigh, Fraserburgh, Scotland

"Hi. I saw you in Dartford last week. I have seen U2 only once before when they played at Twickenham stadium and would not call myself a fan. 'Another great evening with ZU2. This is the second time we have seen you and will not be the last that is for sure.' Angie

U2 may have The Edge, but ZU2's guitarist Richard Ashford replicates the wooly-hatted one's soaring, shimmering and fluid style to a tee. His brother Russell is Bono's doppelganger, and has perfectly captured his holiness's throaty rasp and effortless falsetto. Setting a new standard in the art of tributry, ZU2 somehow, amazingly, created the pulse-quickening drama and excitement of a massive stadium show within the genteel splendour of The Kings. And that is precisely where they score over the originals. I once saw U2 live at the old Wembley stadium, and all I can remember is having to jump up and down to catch the odd glimpse of Bono and the boys doing their stuff seemingly miles away. With blinding lights raking the auditorium and the sound that was unmistakably pure U2, a shockingly sparse audience was treated to a plethora of hits, starting with the blistering Vertigo and ending with the majestic I still haven't found what I'm Looking For. These men, including drummer Jamie Richardson and bassist Gareth Jenkinson, are consummate musicians, and developed great warmth and empathy with the enthusiastic crowd. Highlights included Where The Streets Have No Name, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and a few tracks requested by the audience at half time, including the blissful Angel of Harlem. ZU2 deserved a bigger audience. They promised to come back again next year, and I would urge anyone who likes U2 to see them. Never mind a quiet night in - treat youself to a loud night out. ALAN COOPER, The News, Portsmouth.

'Saw you live last night at the Komedia in Brighton. Very good but you asked for some feedback....the music was WAAAAY too loud and drowned out the vocals way too much! It was so frustrating because the lead singer sounds like he has the voice to really carry this off but, all you could hear was the tune he was singing (barely any lyrics could be made out while the whole band was playing) and then he kept getting the audience to sing a lot of the great notes in the songs! Why? We'll sing along with you anyway mate, trust me! It was a bit frustrating, especially on 'with or without you' with the 'whooah-oah-oah-oaaah' bit...he got us to sing it! I wanted to hear him belt it out like Bono while I shrieked along, not just me and a load of semi-drunk fans. But it was really good nevertheless...the band is amazing and so tight together. But sort your sound out. The main vocals were lost behind the lead guitar. Hope that's not all too negative cos we really enjoyed it too but, if it happened too many times when I saw you it would start to get irritating. UP THE VOICE!! And then you've got it to perfection!' Jordan Adams, Brighton

Yvette Harper, Southsea.

'Well what can i say. I am sitting here now as i type listening to the cd,and studying every track, drum beat.bass line etc,f*****g awesome. If you gave that to a stranger and said it was u2 themselves, I don`t think they would know the difference! My missus thought you were the real deal, anyway it means alot that you let me come back stage. You made my week, and trust me i was having a s**t one with work. I will definitley be coming to the Isle of wight,& Brighton, a propper groupie"laughing." Take Care.' Warren, Portsmouth.

'We've just got back from your gig in Preston; honestly, these lad's have got it spot on!! Fantastic musically as well as vocally, what a brilliant performance! I'm a hardened U2 fan, and I must admit, I thought it a little wierd to watch a tribute band, I cannot believe what a fantastic time we've had. The smaller venue's enable you to completely soak up the atmosphere, it's like going back to Dublin 20 years ago!! Everybody, do yourself a favour, go and see this band, even though they are a tribute band, they are accuirate in every way, with a brilliant attention to detail, yet without losing their individual characters and sense of humour. How many of you have seen The Edge on a concert hall roof top having a ciggie? I'd love to see these lad's play in Dublin, it would be amazing! Bono, if you're reading this, you chaps really must go and see, Edge, if you ever break a finger.....? Guy's, thank you all for a wonderful night, we'll treasure your performance for years to come!' Dave Grice, Preston.

'I saw the Preston gig. Top show chaps - I'll keep an eye out for you'  Ed B, Preston.

'Was at your gig at Langholm in the Scottish Borders last night. Absolutely brilliant, being a life long U2 fan i didnt know what to expect. You guys far far exceeded my expectations. Bono's voice was very powerfull and was spot on in my opinion, Edge was a fantastic musician. Adam, although being obviously loads younger was the personification of cool. Larry's performance was mesmorising, still cant get over how good you guys are. Please haste yea back to the Borders soon. Keep up the good work guys.' Derek Campbell, Hawick, Scotland.

'Absolutly awesome show in langholm guys,, can't wait to see you all again. Hopefully sooner than later. Any true fan of U2 have got to see these guys, the similarities are rather spooky in sound and looks and overall stage presence,, many thank's for a great show.' Paul & Fiona Ormsby, Scotland.

'What can I say? The Langholm concert ROCKED! You guys were every inch U2, and I will definitely look out for more of your concerts in the area. Had to get up and dance when you did Sunday Bloody Sunday! Thanks for a great night! Heather Eccles, Scotland.
